Level-up List Guide
Turn the Japanese you “know” into Japanese you can “use” in conversation.
What is the Level-up List?
A learning tool where you collect the Japanese sentences and patterns you want to use,
picture real situations, and practice saying them out loud again and again —
until you can use them in real conversations.
Keep sentences and patterns

4 key points of learning with the Level-up List
Practice with a scene and feeling from the start
Picture who you are talking to and where, and say it with feeling. Because you practice in a way that is close to real conversation, the phrases are easier to use when you need them.
Learn patterns, not just sentences
Instead of memorizing one sentence, you practice it as a pattern. By changing the words, you can start to say what you really want to say.
Sentences Japanese people really use
JapaTalk lists contain natural sentences used in daily life, organized by common patterns and by level. You don’t have to wonder what to study next — just go step by step.
See your progress
Your own rating and your teacher’s rating show how far you have come. It also makes it clear what to practice in your lessons.
Check your progress in 3 levels
You can say it with feeling in a real situation.
You can change the words to make many different sentences.
You can use it naturally at any time, without thinking.
Think “Roleplay” from the start. Imagine a real situation and say it out loud. This is the key to improving.

Repeat steps 3–6 to level up!
In your lesson, just tell your teacher:
「〇〇リストの〇番、レベルアップリストの評価をお願いします。」
“〇〇 risuto no 〇 ban, reberu appu risuto no hyōka o onegai shimasu.”
= Please rate No. 〇 on my 〇〇 list in the Level-up List.
What you can add
You can add as many sentences as you like to one list. Each sentence can have these 5 items (only the Sentence is required).
You can use the 5 boxes freely. For example, put a long passage in “Sentence”, or write your own language in “Sentence” and a Japanese example in “Pattern”. Change the contents in whatever way helps you learn.
